Apparel Arts, a San Francisco Fashion Design School opened its doors to 4 students in October of 1996 with a patternmaking and design class. Student enrollment has grown substantially through word-of-mouth and now, in addition to our original patternmaking and design course, we have classes on construction, illustration, draping, design principles, grading, textiles, business seminars, tailoring, fit, couture sewing and fabric manipulation. The majority of our graduates are working in the apparel industry and many own their own businesses.
Our goal at Apparel Arts: San Francisco Fashion Design School is to enable students to become industry-proficient in clothing design, patternmaking, construction, manufacturing and production.
Apparel Arts encourages those interested in working in the fashion design and apparel field or those expanding an existing apparel business to consider our program. We also welcome artists, entrepreneurs and the serious hobbyist.
